Workers (Predictable Terms and Conditions) Act 2023

The previous conservative government brought into force the Workers (Predictable Terms and Conditions) Act 2023 which received Royal Assent in September 2023. There was also a draft Code of Practice on handling requests prepared by ACAS and it was all set to come into force this autumn.

However, it has now been confirmed that Labour will not proceed with the implementation of this new legal right, instead they will bring something similar with the changes proposed in new Employment Rights Bill.

The Department of Business and Trade have said “We will introduce a new right to a contract that reflects the number of hours regularly worked as part of our significant and ambitious agenda to ensure workplace rights are fit for a modern economy, empower working people and deliver economic growth.”

This is of course part of Labour’s plan to regulate and potentially ban zero-hour contracts.

As soon as we have more information on this, we will of course share with you.
