Body Language
Body language is one of several indicators of mood, meaning and motive.
Ever had that gut feeling that something is not right? Your intuition is telling you something, so listen to it. Intuition is a reliable indicator that something might be about to happen, trusting our instincts can help reduce the risk of a confrontational situation, and help you stay safe.
It’s a combination of things, such as:
- The time of day
- The location you are in
- How were you greeted
- The clients Attitude/Stance/Actions
- How they look – their eyes, do they look unnaturally tense
- What do they smell of – alcohol for example
- Did they lock the door behind you when you went in
- Why aren’t their partner/family there
If its someone you have seen before, has their attitude changed?
A naturally dominant person will greet you with a firm handshake, have manners that tend
towards the abrupt and will make eye contact. Someone who is seeking to gain control of you will behave in a similar manner, but it will come over in a more aggressive manner.
Trust your instincts!
If your instincts are telling you that something is not right, trust them and remove yourself from the situation!

PPS specialises in preventing these problems by:
- Awareness training

Our training will teach your staff to have a greater awareness of their surroundings and the danger signals they need to notice. We help them understand what causes that general ‘gut feeling’ that something isn’t right, and how to make the correct decision based on that feeling.
We will help them understand how avoid conflict, deal with conflict and aggressive behaviour and we will teach you some simple techniques designed to help you remove yourself from a confrontation situation.
If your staff regularly go on appointments, are away from the office or potentially in vulnerable situations then you have a duty of care to train your staff on these issues.
