Respecting Our Team – Our Client Code of Conduct

Treating Our Team with Respect

At Real Employment Law Advice, we are committed to providing professional, approachable and supportive legal advice to all our clients.

We understand that employment law issues can be stressful, emotional and, at times, frustrating. Many of the people who contact us are dealing with difficult situations, and we always aim to respond with empathy, patience and understanding.

However, we are equally committed to protecting the wellbeing, dignity and safety of our team.

Our staff have the right to carry out their work in an environment free from harassment, bullying, intimidation, discrimination and abuse.

We operate a zero-tolerance approach to abusive, threatening or harassing behaviour towards any member of our team.

What We Expect from our Customers, Contacts and Anyone who Contacts Us

We ask everyone who communicates with Real Employment Law Advice, whether by telephone, email, in person, through social media or by any other means, to treat our team with courtesy and respect.

We will not tolerate behaviour including:

  • Aggressive, threatening or intimidating language or behaviour.
  • Shouting, swearing or directing personal insults at members of our team.
  • Discriminatory or offensive comments, including those relating to someone’s race, sex, disability, religion, age or other protected characteristics.
  • Sexual harassment, inappropriate remarks or unwanted personal attention.
  • Bullying, harassment or repeated unreasonable demands directed at individual members of staff.
  • Excessive, persistent or abusive communications which place unreasonable pressure on our team.
  • Threats of violence or any behaviour which causes a member of our team to feel unsafe.

We recognise that customers may disagree with advice, decisions, fees or the way in which a matter is being handled, and you are always entitled to raise concerns or make a complaint, but we expect this to be done respectfully and appropriately.

What Happens If Behaviour Is Unacceptable?

Where we consider that someone’s behaviour towards our team is unacceptable, we reserve the right to take appropriate action. Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

  • Asking the individual to moderate their behaviour.
  • Ending a telephone call or meeting.
  • Requiring future communications to be made in writing or through a designated contact.
  • Restricting communication where necessary to protect our staff.
  • Declining to accept instructions or, subject to our professional obligations, ending an existing client relationship.
  • Reporting serious threats, harassment or criminal behaviour to the police or other appropriate authorities.

Any action taken will be proportionate to the circumstances and, where applicable, consistent with our professional and regulatory obligations.

A Mutual Commitment to Respect and Kindness

We believe that positive professional relationships are built on mutual respect, honesty and clear communication.

Our team is committed to treating everyone who contacts us with dignity, fairness and professionalism, and we expect the same consideration in return.

We are here to help you with your employment law and HR issues, but supporting our clients should never come at the expense of the safety or wellbeing of our staff.

Thank you for helping us maintain a respectful, safe and professional environment for everyone.
